Bioinformatics for Beginners

4 Weeks

About the Course

Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that deals with the design, construction, and use of software tools to generate store, annotate, access, and analyze data as well as interpret information relating to Molecular Biology particularly DNA, RNA, and protein sequences. In this workshop, from the scratch, we will be covering the entire fundamentals of bioinformatics study through hands-on practical approaches.

  • Introduction to Bioinformatics

  • The design, construction and use of software tools, Internet tools and Database.

  • The divers role of Bioinformatics in the Biotech, Agricultural, Medical working space and all other Biological related fields

  • Introductory study of the basics and major bioinformatics analytical software tools, pipelines and their application

  • Installation and Activation of Genious software

  • Understanding the basic fundamental knowledge of multiple sequence alignment and phylogenetics

  • ITS sequences (Sanger)

  • Molecular identification of unknown sequence

  • Retrieving of similar sample data from NCBI database

  • Using Geneious software for multiple sequence alignment

  • Phylogenetic analysis of aligned ITS sequence

  • And evaluation of phylogenetic tree

  • Bacteria Phylogenetic Analysis at Genome Level
