ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This structured 4-week hands-on training program equips participants with core concepts and practical skills in viral genomics through guided virtual instruction and intensive applied sessions.

The program is designed for life science students, early-career researchers, laboratory scientists, public health professionals, and individuals seeking practical competence in viral genome data analysis.
Participants will engage in real-data workflows using platforms such as UseGalaxy, Geneious, Excel, R, and Tableau to perform quality control, genome assembly, annotation, variant analysis, and data visualization.

More than a theoretical course, this training follows a project-driven and mentor-guided approach. Each participant completes a supervised viral genomics mini-project, progressing from genome retrieval and preprocessing to variant interpretation and visual presentation using a selected virus.
​
At completion, participants will possess demonstrable analytical skills, increased confidence in viral genomics workflows, and a completed mini-project, supported by a Certificate of Participation awarded by Genomac Institute Inc.
